CBT "Solntsepek": why is it called the most terrible Russian weapon?

 

What is the main difficulty of its combat use? The TOS-1A Solntsepek heavy flamethrower system is our glorious weapon, which all enemies of Russia, without exception, are so afraid of. I'll tell you in detail why. The name, by the way, is interesting. It is usually customary in our army to give military equipment even humorous names, often not directly related to the characteristics of weapons. But there is a pleasant exception with the "Sunshine" - everything immediately becomes clear from the name. So, the Solntsepek CBT is a modification of the Pinocchio heavy flamethrower system, which was adopted back in the 1980s and was used in the Afghan and Chechen wars.

Today's Solntsepek was created already in modern Russia - in 2001. And tested in real combat against terrorists in Syria. Where, by the way, he showed a stunning result near Aleppo.

Solntsepek uses thermobaric ammunition. It releases about 30 220-millimeter rockets in 6-7 seconds, each of which contains up to 400 liters of special aerosol explosives. Aerosol, friends, if anyone does not know, then these are microscopic droplets that "hang" in the air when sprayed. The air freshener in our toilet works the same way, but it doesn't light up, fortunately. :)

The Solntsepeka rocket reaches the point using a jet engine. And it detonates directly at the target's surface. A special detonator ignites the aerosol. It turns out to be a kind of huge cloud of the temperature of the sun, which comfortably envelops all the folds of the affected area. Together with the hiding enemy soldiers.

The shock wave, pressure and burning mixture with a temperature of about 4000 degrees through the cracks and holes get inside any shelters. With one salvo, the "Sunbeam" destroys all living things in a 200x400 meter square. That is, it turns out that 5-7 football stadiums are located somewhere in the affected area at once.

The mighty TOC salvo reaches even buried bunkers, caves or ravines, dugouts, underground fortified areas, shelters in ruins. In general, it knocks out any well-entrenched enemy hiding in the terrain. Rocks and walls, I tell you, even play into the "Sun"'s hands - they enhance the effect of a shock wave and a cloud of flame. It is not surprising that our weapons are considered the most formidable after nuclear weapons. The Sun has a huge psychological demoralizing effect on enemy soldiers. However, there are simply no enemies who can tell about their feelings after his volleys. After all, it is simply impossible to protect yourself or hide from the "Sun".

It is interesting that CBT refers to chemical troops. The launcher is mounted on the basis of T-72A or T-90 tanks. It unfolds on the ground in just 90 seconds, firing ammunition in a record 6-12 seconds. The crew of the launcher is three people - the commander, the mechanized infantry and the gunner.

We are also armed with a more mobile wheeled system with the romantic name TOZ-2 Tosochka on the chassis of the Ural armored car. The Tosochka can travel quickly to places where the tracked version does not always get. She will also be able to leave the scene much faster if the enemy spots her coordinates. However, she will have fewer shells than the Solntsepek. Well, I had to sacrifice something for the sake of mobility.

The Solntsepek can also launch smoke bombs, creating a dense smoke screen of 400 meters. Thermobaric and smoke charges are often combined in a salvo to enhance the effect. Needless to say, no other army in the world has anything like this in its arsenal. However, no one will say exactly how many "Sunbeams" Russia has - it's a military secret :) Spoon of tar

It is clear that the universal invincible Wunderwaffe simply does not exist in the world. It did not exist and will not exist. Anyone who thinks differently is a complete fool. So the "Sunbeam" is not an omnipotent weapon. To begin with, the scope of its application is quite narrow - the enemy's field fortifications, his light military equipment and manpower. In the same urban battle, the use of the "Sunbeam" may be irrational - the enemy fortified point of the CBT will simply burn down completely, preventing our soldiers from using it profitably later.

The Solntsepek CBT itself is a melee combat system. Its firing range is only 6 kilometers. For comparison: "Grads" strike at 20 km, "Tornadoes" will reach all 120.

Therefore, our hero, who stands at the very front, is within reach of enemy drones, artillery and aviation, and sabotage groups. After all, it's clear to a hedgehog that all the enemy's attention is immediately focused on the place where the CBT is working from.

Another significant disadvantage of the Solntsepek is that the block with its flammable missiles is protected only by bulletproof armor. This makes it a very convenient prey for the same enemy's rifle units. The Solntsepek itself is quite expensive - about 30 million rubles per unit. It is also difficult to maintain and repair, especially in the field. However, our equipment does not stand still. Now the Solntsepek and Tosochka are being protected from the same drones by built-in electronic warfare systems. Another Russian Armageddon weapon is also preparing to enter service - the improved and even better protected TOC-3 Dragon with an increased (over 15 km) firing range. So this system will no longer have to stand directly at zero.
